The Yaoi term やおい was born between the 70s and 80s "June" magazine, and is diffused both in the East and in the West. This term indicates a story in which the plot is mainly centralized on one homosexual relationship between to male characters, usually defined "bishonen" (that is a character with good-looking aspect, but with female lineaments).

Ai no kusabiCharacters are distinguished between "seme", that is the one who is active in the sexual relationship, and "uke", the one is passive (usually he is the most femmine one). The word Yaoi, in a complete way, means "YAmanashi, Ochinashi, Iminashi" that in Japanese means "no climax, no plot, no sense"; and not YAmete, Oshiri Itai ("stop, my butt hurts") as it was believed!

haru wo dei itaBeyond that, in manga/anime, this kind of plot is often used in "doujinshi", that are stories based on an existing Japanese comics series, and they are created by an anime/manga fan or, in rare case, by the mangaka (Gravitation remixes are an example of that).

Ai no kusabiMore explicit than Shounen-ai, Yaoi are destinated to an adult public, expecially girls, but it camses also appreciated by some homosexuals.

Some Yaoi famous mangaka are: Kakuma Kodaka (Kizuna), Youka Nitta (Hare wo daite ita) and Maki Murakami (Gravitation Remix). Some examples of yaoi manga or anime are:

where we see Jun'ya, a neo-worker in a computer society, that wants to make a career;  Haru wo daite ita, where Iwaki and Kato are two adult movies actors. The audition for a film marks the beginning of their relationship. Moreover, in Ai no Kusabi, we found Riki, a boy that couldn't stay anymore of his life without future in Keres ghetto, so he decided to abandon his friend Guy and his band "Byson", in order to look for luck and freedom.
