Shounen-ai
ShÅnen'ai (from shÅnen "boy" and Ai "love"):
Since there is a relation between Shuichi and Yuki, Gravitation is a shounen-ai (also referred to as shonen ai) manga and anime. This kind of manga presents sentimental relation between homosexual boys and adolescent; though it doesn't contain pornography or explicit sex, but only vague scenes if not anything at all. Actually, the story is centered on the overwhelming love and the romance of the characters itself. Unlike the Yaoi, that found itself on sex, without a notable plot.
Kaze to Ki no Uta was born in the seventies and began to conctretize in the eighties from the pen of Keiko Takamiya. It is the first shounen-ai manga in the history. Keiko Takemiya is an author of shoujo (manga for girls) that introduced in her stories elements taken from a melodramatic realism. For many years, Japanese girls followed the tormented story of Serge and Gilbert, running through with them the tematics of a forbidden love, of the homosexuality and other harsher like violence and rape. This manga was a success never seen before and gave start, maybe without the author even knew it, to a new genre, named in the following years Shounen-ai.
Shounen-ai manga are today appreciated both by male and female public. We often find reference to the homosexuality in many modern manga and anime. An example is "Marmelade boy", where homosexuality of one of the main characters, Miwa Satoshi, is exposed softly. In "Sailor Moon" there is an homosexual relation between Zagar and Lord Kaspar. Looking in the past, we can find Arthur and Irwin from the manga "Georgie", and Sabaru and Seishiro in "Tokyo Babylon".

Other examples of Shounen-ai anime can be "Fake - a confidential investigation", where a couple of cops in New York are always chasing the worst criminals. They go on a full-of-surprises holiday.
Another shounen-ai anime is "Loveless" where we find Aoyagi Ritsuka, tormented by the shadow of his brother murder. He finds a good friend and lover in Soubi, a miserious man that will fight with magical skill to protect Aoyagi's life.
"The equation of the professor" sees Atsushi, addressed as Akkun, a boy that can't forget Masami, his friend since he was a child. When Akkun finally met asami, this one seems to don't recognize him...
There are plenty shounen-ai manga and anime nowadays, and Gravitation is a part of this universe.
