Sweet&Drools - Kidnapped by the beauty

We're not dead! Or at most... after the death of my pc, the divine grace gave me the patiency to resurrect it... and here I am! Sweet&Drolls restarts!

This time, for the joy of the ones who want heavy-emotions, we'll explore the enemy-territory of the easy impressionable people: we will talk, in fact about Cossette No Shouzou [ コゼットの肖像 ]!

It's been from the start of Sweet&Drolls that we were looking for an horror to propose you and finally we found it: and what a horror, come on!
So let's raise the curtain of this work which passed quietly over the eyes of everyone! Mainly Cossette No Shouzou is a short story constituted by 3 OAVs, which could be simply summarized in one and only movie/OAV, if the cadence of - almost soporific - of the narration traps inside that awesome world - maybe a bit unlucky - of the art student Eiri Kurahashi (toh! Eiri e.n.) employed in an antique shop to earn some money.

Tiding up a few things, a reallyreally mysterious mirror of the XVIII century shows in front of his eyes and, uncredibly... a girl appears reflected by the glass! Enchanted and fond of the young girl, the present guy will end in showing the beautiful shape trapped in the mirror passing as a poor mad.
Surprising finale!

Actually, Cossette no Shouzou is quite gothic and complex... well, quite complex. Yet many people didn't appreciate the anime, because it seems that the 3 OAVs leave something unsolved...
And yet everything is explained, even if the story is probably excessively summarized, rather developed - after the anime - calmly and with an exceptional tecnique!

A tecnique that makes you astonished. The animations, the music, the drawings are smiply divine (do i like the animes with absurd animations? Well, yes, I confess!) and their loooooong over the standards of these years. Sure, Ergo Proxy is a step over, but even Cossette is quite fascinating... enchanting!

The manga, edited by Tokyopop - yup, the same behind Gravitation and the works of the Clamp -  is drawn with mastering by the same author of the animated serie, or rather the emergent mangaka Asuka Katsura, author of Blood+ also, known by the most for its as spectacular as uncredible shots.
Let's make everything clear: Cossette no Shouzou is another undervalued jewel of the animation. In fact our guest was born in 2004, from the studios of Aniplex (...something familiar, isn't it?), and has been continued as a manga a few months after the first publication, and nowadays it's on sale.

Some winks to "The Picture of Dorian Gray" from Oscar Wilde in perfect and clean tables. A masterpiece! By the way. Nevertheless... the anime mark is an eight, because the end doesn't satisfy enough and some parts of the story could be treated in a better way. Now how it is, it has a dropping narration and in some points so bad elaborated. This doesn't erase it's good rate, an eight because the work is over the average. It's a little jewel, believe me! And now some snapshots!

In the end, for the happyness of all of you, hungry otaku, finally, after so much time, a complete serie show herself on the NanodaTv! Wait a while, because we are re-uploading everything, 'cause Veoh.com has changed its properties about long videos... so, take a chips pack and prepare yourself to enjoy the show!
