Densha Otoko has been and is stil now a true phenomenon. It has been made into film, manga, OVA, it takes inspiration from a true story and has now become a modern fable.
Densha soon comes to realize he has fallen in love and all the drama deals with his attempt to overcome all difficulties and errors a clumsy person like him will meet to win the love of a girl so far from his world.
Tsuyoshi Yamada is a young man of contemporary Japan. He is an otaku, a shy and unsociable person who have interest only in work and anime and mangas. All his life, friendship included, centres around these two strong passions.
One day while he was coming back home by train he sees a gorgeous woman, Saori. He observes the window behind her which was reflecting his image, and starts dreaming of being with her when suddenly a drunken man enters the wagon and begins troubling all present people. He soon notices the beautiful woman, and he starts to molest her badly. An unbelievable Yamada stands up to defend her, and with shaking legs says to the man "S-Stop it".
After returning home Yamada connects to the internet and posts on a forum for single men called Aladdin channel. Using the nickname Densha Otoko (train man) he tells everyone what happened in the train.
When he receives a gift of thanks from Saori he turns to the forum for advice. In fact Yamada has never dated a girl in his life and all the users of the forum show interest in his situation and begin to post suggestions.

Densha is also a light for the other single men who wants to change themselves, a man who decided to try even if he doesn't know how Saori will react after knowing he is an otaku. For this reason he hides his true personality and changes himself especially his look.
This drama is very well made. Every actor's performance is memorable, in fact characters' portrayals are very realistic. All the 11 episodes are full of comedy and romance, resulting in entertaining and moving the audience deeply. The direction is very precise in timings and delicate, every character has a deep psychological characterization, even if they live a stereotyped life and reflect the director's critic towards the uneasiness of youngsters in modern Japan.
What strikes the viewer is that all film's shots are studied to be as anime-like as possible, and this has been done beautifully. Therefore this device suits well to the atmosphere of the whole drama and is able to help in conveying feelings and comedy.
In conclusion this drama is unique and I suggest it to everyone, you will not be disappointed for sure!
