Sanrio, the Hello Kitty manufacturer, is facing a worthy rival: Momiji doll. Based upon the traditional Japanese wooden dolls "Kokeshi", handmade by Kiji-shi (wood carvers), Momiji dolls greatly outsold its "rivals" Hello Kitty and Pukka.
