Sashimi recipe


Hello!!! Here I am with another very very recipe for today, the Sashimi recipe! The only complicated thing will be finding very good fresh fish, since this one won't be cooked!

Well, let's begin saying the INGREDIENTS you need for make Sashimi!

  • 500g of fresh fish (free choice): tunfish, salmon, sea trout, snapper, carp bream, any other white fish)
  • Japanese soy sauce
  • Wasabi (come accompagnamento da mischiare nella salsa di soia se vi piace il piccante!)
  • 1 peeled carrot
  • 1 peeled Daikon (for further informations about this root, have a look on this Glossary)
  • Some lettuce leaves (for decorations)
  • Lemon (for decorations)

Time spent: 30 minutes
Cooking time: 0 minutes

Ready for:
4 persons

How do you make it?

1- Using a very sharpened knife, take the peel of the fish.

2- Afterwards, put the fish in the freezer and let it become cooler, until it will be enough "firm" to be cut in 5 mm thick slices. Beware: cut the fish without using saw knives, the fish must be kept intact.

3- Put the sashimi on a big plate in a "nice way". Usially it is served with japanese soy sauce and wasabi.

4- Now you have to create very thin carrot and daikon slices. We have used a special tool, but you can even use a potato-peeler and a knife

5- Once everything is finished, serve the fish, the carrots and the daikon. Here you have the result you should have!

i notice that when buying tuna meat, they are graded. grade A tuna meat is the most expensive and most delicious when made as sashimi or cooked very rare. yum yum :D
