Hi !! here we are again with the Tokyo section of our "chronicles". This time I'll be chatting about the time we spent in the marvelous Japanese capital. Though the previous article was about Kyoto, our first stop, we spent much more time in Tokyo. In the 8 days of our visit we saw much the city had to offer. Each section had specialties, like Akihabara's unmatched electronics and manga shopping prowess, while Jinbocho is practically a gargantuan book shop! But don't think this is all Tokyo had to offer, there's much more, let's just touch on our journey as we left Kyoto.

    Tokyo

After our Okonomiyaki dinner we slept and when we were roused at 8 o'clock the following morning we were greeted by a pleasant surprise of breakfast. As always, most of it was a surprise, but we ate as much as possible since we had a long march ahead of us.This is our last breakfast in Kyoto, there was a sole (fish), rice and a strange broody kind of tofu (I think... :|). Despite its questionable... [Continue...]

Hey there! Here we are again with the second episode of our trip to Tokyo. After a much-needed rest we went out for a walk since we still had to get familiar with the streets of Tokyo. We chose to visit Akihabara, a big commercial block filled with skyscrapers covered in sparkling lights. Here you can find thousands of multi-layered shops and the sheer life in the place is frantic. It's the best place to buy whatever you need related to technology, manga and animation. Outside the shops there are always a lot of employees shouting offers, drawing customers in and out of the shops looking for everything and nothing while giant screens blaze all around.

Quartiere di Akihabara detto anche Akiba

Akihabara can be easely reached with the JR Yamanote Line and the best time to visit it is in the later at night. At 11:00 pm the place is completely dead. Actually each block has its "opening time" and it's normal to move from an ampty one to a crowded one in little time. Our hotel was in OchaNoMizu and so we were able to reach Akihabara on foot.On foot you can move along this street and... [Continue...]

This time I'm going to tell you of Shinjuku and Shibuya. These sections of Tokyo are very lively and appreciated by the younger people. They're also easily reachable with the JR Yamanote. In Shinjuku we saw Hanazono, a Shinto temple of the XVII century. Due to our dedication to Inari, we just couldn't miss it. We found it thanks to the help of a kind lady working on street maintenance. While out and about we also moved through Kabuki Cho, a street crammed full of Pachinko rooms where the prices varied a lot from shop to shop.

Hanazono Temple was painted in the classical fox colours: red and white and a lot of rope was set around the altar. Right here Inari manifested physicaly in front of us as an old man came to us asking where we were from, after that he went away laughing  °°,  . You may ask what is this all for with Inari?  It's crazy. Once at the hotel we searched on the web to study the... [Continue...]

Ginza is composed of an incredible number of shops and boutiques, we went there looking for the Sony Showroom. Right there we had the chance to observe one of the most spectacular exhibitions of the Japaneses maniacal precision about time. The showroom had to open at 11 o'clock in the morning, I can't really get the opening times in Japan, we were really early so we had a walk in this block of elaborate buildings and eventually found the Apple Store.

    Apple Store a Ginza

The Apple Store was newly opened and we went inside to take a look. The Apple Store in Ginza was gigantic. 4 floors filled with Macs, iPods, accessories, a conferences room and a free internet room. A lot of people were waiting with us for the daily opening. To move from a floor to the other there was two glass elevetors, even they were in the Apple style. There was just one button, and at first... [Continue...]

We took the subway and come out at Akabanebashi station. The tower is visible right off the bat in its 1,093 ft of height. It has different floors, each of which has a separate ticket. Let me suggest that you not go on Sunday (like we did... -_- ) and possibly do it in winter. There was a sea of people and two really long lines, one for the ticket end another for the elevator... It ended up being a very long time to wait.

Vista del panorama di Tokyo dalla Tokyo Tower

Here it is the Tokyo Tower. The first observation point is at half of its height. In the photo you see a very close up picture of the tower from it's base, I almost had to lay down on the floor to take it... The line to the elevators was directed by some girls white dressed in funny hat.  All of them were really kind, too. Finally we got on the top and see Tokyo from above, it was quite...
