Takeshi Kitano: Akiretsu to Kame rewarded at the Festival of the Greek Cinema of Salonicco

Takeshi Kitano, actor and director of famous works like Dolls and the new Battle Royale, have been honored of the Golden Alexander for his last masterpiece, Akiresu to Kame showed during the forty-ninth edition of the international Festival of the Cinema of Salonicco, Greece.

    

The Festival of Salonicco (November 14-23 th 2008) has reached its forty-ninth edition. It's now considered in the Balkans as the principal showcase for the new emergent directors, as also for the principal festivals of the cinema in the region.
It presents international movies, a vast survey of Greek films and numerous retrospectives and homages to great personalities of the world of the cinema.

In such a background, Takeshi Kitano introduces Akiresu to Kame. The title, in English, can be read as "Akiresu and the Turtle." A movie that show the Master entangled in the interpretation of a painter without talent and a sick wife. Akiresu persists in following the way of the artist despite he doesn't succeed in selling his works; this will lead him to deep psychological reflections.

Takeshi Kitano has declared, very modestly: "I am happy to receive the prize from people in this country with a long history. I have really appreciated. At the same time, I feel a little embarrassed to have received a so prestigious prize".

The prize has been delivered to Kitano by George Corraface, president of the Festival and from Despina Mouzaki, the directress.

"I feel stimulated to improve my job, thanks to this prize. I hope to return to Salonicco in the future with a new film, that make me to win another prize! I will try to make my best to become a director that improves every day. Thanks".
